These sweaters are so well made and have such a classic design. They are pretty and practical, a combination I appreciate. I bought the sweater in deep brown heather and was so pleased with it that I bought it in aqua gray heather as well. The cotton/wool/nylon blend has a hefty texture without being bulky and it doesn’t cling. If not for seeing on the tags that there is twice as much cotton as wool in the blend, I would have guessed that there was more wool. They just have the look and feel of wool. They are great in winter with jeans and boots and just as great to have on hand when temperatures dip on a late summer evening. The colors are subtle and versatile. Pockets are a bonus. I am 5’5" and weigh 115 and the small/regular fits perfectly. I love these sweaters so much that I am now considering getting the grape heather one. Obviously I highly recommend them!

If you didn’t catch the museum show, this is the next best thing
We caught the Vivienne Westwood retrospective traveling show at the De Young Museum in San Francisco, and were blown away by the inventive, fun, nutty clothes this woman produced. This book serves as a exhibition catalog, although many of the pieces in the show are not in the book, and nothing matches seeing the wild shoes, hats, dresses and frocks in person. The book design is a minor annoyance, as it can be a little hard to find the garment pictured, who was wearing it, or when it was created. And I think frankly the girl has her best work behind her, but the glory of it cannot be exaggerated, or, to put it another way, her exaggerations were truly glorious. Over The Top in the very best way.

Lacks credibility – and colour
This book had some perceptive thoughts on the psychology of why women wear black, as well as useful advice on the downsides of dressing in black, and ideas on ways of wearing black for women (or men) who don’t suit it near their faces. However, it is surely a major flaw in a book about colour that it is purely in black and white – the only colour is on the front and back covers! The author tries to describe colours and colouring rather than showing them, with very limited success. Also the book mixes in good advice with flaky nonsense. For example, it tries to tie temperament (as in sanguine, phlegmatic, choleric and melancholic) to colouring (spring, summer, autumn and winter), without any scientific basis. If colouring mapped onto temperament as the author asserts, it would suggest that personality is pretty much divided along racial or ethnic lines, which is completely unfounded. She also refers to notions such as auras and iridology, which won’t bother more credulous readers but…

I purchased the Women’s Marmot Cabrillo L/S Shirt (XL) from REI then ordered extras after enjoying the comfort and fit. The colors are fun too; I’ve received many compliments. The sleeves on the (XL) are about 22″ after three months and several wears and the shirt continues to hold up and still looks new. The overall fit is best for slim figures. Polyester is the way to go, especially this amazing flannel finish, SO COMFORTABLE! When I first pulled it off of the rack, I thought to myself, this is just another cotton shirt, something I really didn’t want. I was pleasantly shocked to read the tag knowing that I would get years of wear and enjoyment out of this all polyester garment. The buttons are sewn to the front of the shirt through a thin strip of nylon webbing what a great idea!

At last the beauty book I’ve been searching for. Ms. Irons has covered just about every beauty problem there is at every age. It’s all here in one book including diet,skincare, beauty supplements, foods to eat, clothing care, cellulite, remedies for age spots, spider veins,frizzy hair, and lots of money saving insider secrets. Delicate, feminine and soft wrap
Cashmere is soft and easy to wear. Just note that when they say tissue weight – they mean that it is very thin and light. It’s good for spring/summer weather if you need an extra layer that is not bulky. Just be very careful so that it doesn’t snag or hook on jewelry and other things, since the thread count is very low and the weave is loose. I would say, there is about an average of 1mm of space in between each weave – which means the wrap has a transparent feel and look. Having said that though, I really like this wrap because it is indeed made of soft cashmere and a perfect size to layer in cool and mildly cold weather. The soft transparency makes it very feminine and lends itself to some creative ways to add to your wardrobe. Price-wise I think it is reasonable if it stays within the mid-two-digit range.

Worth buying — but a little confusing!
Let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE fan of the Perfumes: A-Z guide by the same authors. I own both of these, and I’m glad I do. This is the portable, can’t miss version of the big guy. It’s going to come with me to every perfume counter I visit until I’ve smelled all 96 of these that are still in production.
If you know someone who’s interested in perfume, but not totally sure about it, this would be a great starter book. It presents 96 best-of-the-best perfumes with (approx. 1 page) reviews of each. The book also references price ($-$$$$) and a two word description of the perfume (e.g., huge floral, classic oriental) which I find to be extremely helpful, since sometimes I just want to cut to the chase and know what’s so great about the perfume.
If you’re a perfume fan and don’t own either book yet, I’d go with the A-Z guide. It’s slightly outdated (2007, I think?), but you have all the fun of being able to look up the perfumes that you love and see how…

From the standpoint of a military history bookseller and as a collector, this book suceeds on many levels. It is obviously a "labor of love" not only for the subject material, but also for the actual layout and execution of the finished product. The author literally spent years researching the subject, investing her time, effort, and money acquiring the finest collection of children’s military uniforms from all over the United States, and with this book she shares all of the information with the general public for the first time. I heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in American history- the book is a time line from the American Revolution through the Vietnam Period, with the author’s own very unique perspective. The text is very detailed and observant, and the quality of the photgraphy is first rate.
