Miley Cyrus just ended her career

Because vanishing off the face of the Earth kicks ass, Miley Cyrus is officially walking away from the Hannah Montana franchise, according to the New York Post:
The news quietly marks the end of one of the most successful kids’ shows ever. The show still averages nearly 5 million viewers a week.
“You never know in this business . . . but right now we’re scheduled to wrap [forever] after shooting this new batch of episodes,” says Disney Channel Worldwide’s Adam Bonnett, senior VP/programming.
For the parents wondering what schlock is going to babysit your little Susie now, don’t worry. I guarantee you Disney is deep in the South as we speak talking a young girl out of a life of snake-handling so she’ll teach your daughters how to become illiterate strippers. So just take a deep breath. More Miley Cyrus in a Bikini
Kate Gosselin blew $7,000 on her hair

Remember when Kate Gosselin was on The View bawling about being a single mom trying to provide for her kids? Apparently a new $7,000 hairdo counts as food and shelter. RadarOnline reports:
“My haircuts are $950,” Ted revealed. “The color would have been about $500, and the extensions, which were great length extensions, would probably cost about $5000.”
Kate was excited about getting a new look to start off the new year, but was a little nervous about changing her trademark bangs. “We were together for about 20 hours and I would say 15 of those hours were working on Kate trying to convince her to cut her bangs,” Ted joked. “I felt like she was hiding behind that front piece.”
Despite the hesitation, he said the mother of eight “was really open to the entire process.” Ted summed up his vision for the TLC star: “I wanted to make sure I took her from being really ordinary to really extraordinary!”
I wonder how Kate chose which college fund to rob. If it were me, I’d make all eight of them stand in a circle then let a spinning bottle decide who’s going to work in retail until they die. I guess you could say, I’m great with kids.
MTV Pulls Punch Clip From Jersey Shore

MTV has announced that it has pulled a scene from the next episode of Jersey Shore that shows lead star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi getting punched in the face.
In the scene – which went viral after it was previewed during this past Thursday’s show – a man is seen knocking Polizzi’s face back violently at a club. The New York Post has identified her attacker as New York City gym teacher Lou Ferro, 24, who was arrested that same evening for the assault (which left Polizzi, 21, with an injury to the mouth), according to the Post.
“What happened to “Snooki” was a crime and obviously extremely disturbing,” MTV said in a statement Friday. “After hearing from our viewers, further consulting with experts on the issue of violence, and seeing how the video footage has been taken out of context to not show the severity of this act or the resulting consequences, MTV has decided not to air “Snooki” being physically punched in next week’s episode.”
The network said the episode will still make clear what events happened that night and plans to air a message at the end of the show listing available resources for those in abusive relationships.
The clip has also been removed from YouTube.

Could Tiger Woods be in danger of criminal prosecution?

With all the other woes Tiger Woods has faced, could his admission of “infidelity” place the golfer in legal difficulty?
On his Web site Woods not only admitted infidelity but also made a statement that he will take an “indefinite break” from golf.
If some of the reports alleging that Woods paid for intimate relations are true, it is possible the golf legend could face charges of patronizing a prostitute, which is a crime that can result in the sentence of a year behind bars.
A former madam, Michelle Braun has claimed Woods paid more than $60,000 2006 and 2007 for “escort services.”
Aaron Tveit: Playing a Gossip Girl Adulterer Is All in the Suit

Aaron Tveit has a full schedule: At night he sings and dances in the Tony-winning production of Next to Normal, and during the day he seduces Blake Lively’s Serena Van Der Woodsen as young congressman (and burgeoning cheat!) Trip Van Der Bilt on Gossip Girl. He’s also set to play Frank Abagnale in the upcoming Broadway adaptation of Catch Me If You Can. Tveit, who can still be seen nightly in Next to Normal, spoke to Vulture about the magical Gossip Girl wardrobe of his Waspy golden boy, being spotted by the avid GG fans roaming New York, and his upcoming movie love affair with James Franco.
How did you end up on Gossip Girl?
I’d actually auditioned for Gossip Girl a couple times over the past few years for different characters — one was a love interest for Jenny a couple seasons ago, and the other was a Skulls leader at Yale — but I think finally this character was better suited for me. I auditioned right at the end of our Next to Normal run in D.C., so I probably sent my tape in a year ago. January. Our closing night was on a Sunday and I literally had to be on set the next morning at 7 a.m. in New York.
What made Trip’s character seem right for you?
I knew right away who this guy was. I thought the Kennedy-esque story line they seemed to be setting up was interesting. I’m interested in history and politics as a hobby, so it piqued my interest.
Was the cast of Gossip Girl aware that you had this other life in musical theater?
Blake [Lively] and Penn [Badgley] had seen me in Wicked — they’re avid musical-theater supporters. And James Naughton, who plays my grandfather on the show, he’s of course from the theater, and Holly Fain, who’s my wife on the show, is too, so we had a lot to talk about on set. This fall a lot of the cast mates came and saw me in Next to Normal; then I think they realized, “Oh, this is actually what he does.”
You have the smarmy Wasp thing down pretty well. Are you basing Trip on anyone in particular?
That wasn’t really a conscious choice I made. It’s something about putting on those suits. I don’t wear suits in my everyday life. When I started last year, the first episode had the whole football scene [at the Van Der Bilt compound], and my joke with friends is that it was the scene from Wedding Crashers. I thought of that character Bradley Cooper plays. It’s very similar — the sense of an upper-class American society that we don’t think exists anymore, but it really does.
After this past week’s episode, where he unexpectedly showed up at Serena’s house for Thanksgiving, we find Trip a little, well, creepy. Do you?
This is an argument I’ve been having with friends of mine who watch. As opposed to theater, where you learn about a character and do one thing every night, this is great because you get to live in the day-to-day life of the character, and you have to come at everything from a positive standpoint — I have to think what he’s doing is right and just. So I don’t think he’s a bad guy; I think he genuinely loves Serena. I immediately justify what he does without even knowing it!
Do you see a difference in the recognition you get from being part of a TV phenomenon versus being in a Tony-winning musical?
It’s funny, walking through the theater district, I get stopped from time to time about the show, but now I’ve been walking around and I just hear “Trip!!! Trip!!!” I kinda can’t believe it. Especially because I wear a jacket and a hat most of the time. At first I didn’t realize they were talking to me. It’s unbelievable how many people watch the show.
We experienced the Gossip Girl paparazzi one afternoon recently at lunch in Tribeca, when Blake and Chace [Crawford] were eating at the restaurant we went to. It’s insane.
I remember that day! They were in there with Chace’s mom, who was in town. It was crazy! I was shooting with them after lunch. It’s mind-blowing that they have to deal with that. For some reason I thought New York wasn’t like that.
You’re playing Frank Abagnale in the new musical of Catch Me If You Can, which is coming to Broadway, right?
I am. They’re working on the show now doing tweaking and fine tuning, and we’re hoping it’ll be on Broadway in the late fall.
And you’re also in the new Howl movie with James Franco …
I play Peter Orlovsky, who was a beat poet at the time, and he was the man of Allen Ginsberg’s life; they were life partners. A third of the film is live action, a third is footage from the trial, and a third is really trippy animation. James was fantastic to work with. I think it’ll be really cool.
You have so much going on — how old are you, exactly?
You know, I always say, “I’m as old as they need me to be.” I play 17-years-old onstage right now, so, there you go.
Tiger Woods: Mistress Tries to Secretly Bear his Child

With multiple mistresses coming forward with allegations of an affair with Tiger Woods, the plot line in his dramatic marriage to Elin Nordegren thickens as a new woman claims that she had been secretly attempting to get pregnant with his child throughout their romantic time together, Radar Online reports.
After claiming to have been intimate with the golfer for many years, the still unnamed mistress admits that she went off of birth control in hopes to become pregnant during the affair without Tiger’s knowledge, a source at Radar Online reveals.
The source continues that, “She used to try to arrange to see Tiger when she was ovulating, “ as reported by Radar Online, “She thought she’d be set for life financially if she could have Tiger’s baby.”
And while the woman, who has already lawyer-ed up in hopes to get a hefty settlement for her time spent with Woods, has yet to come forward publicly, sources at Radar Online confirm that she and the 33-year-old athlete did not use protection during intimacy although he was unaware the she was not on the pill.
Radar Online reports that the lady, one of many that have been linked to Woods over the past few days following a nasty spat with his wife, is in dire need of money and thinks that Tiger should pay up.

Meester & Lambert @ Z100’s Jingle Ball 2009

Dressed up and ready to go, Leighton Meester was spotted on Friday night (December 11) at the Z100 Jingle Ball 2009 party.
The “Gossip Girl” gal showed off a more daring, rock and roll inspired look as she posed for pictures before heading inside to the New York radio station’s shindig.
In other news, it was recently announced that Meester and actress Gwyneth Paltrow will be filming for a new country film called, “Love Don’t Let Me Down.”
And besides that film, Leighton also has other films coming out, including “Date Night” with Steve Carell and “The Roommate” with Cam Gigandet.

Making his way to Madison Square Garden, Adam Lambert turned up at Z100’s Jingle Ball 2009 in New York City on Friday night (December 11).
The “American Idol” alum took his turn on the arrivals carpet, posing for pictures before heading inside for the night’s show featuring a lineup including top acts such as Taylor Swift, John Mayer, Miranda Cosgrove, Kesha and Justin Bieber.
As for Adam’s upcoming plans over the holiday season, he tells, “I don’t have any specific plans yet and am going to play it by ear.”
Lambert adds, “I hope to spend it with the people I love: my friends and family. I will probably stay in L.A., though the spirit may move me to throw on the snow clothes and head to Big Bear, or maybe go down to Mexico.”

TV Ratings: NBC Wins with Tiger Woods, Ugly Betty up again; Dollhouse up a tiny bit
NBC ruled the night for a change with Dateline (focusing on Tiger Woods) the night’s most-watched program on the broadcast networks. Law & Order was also strong and though a surprise appearance from Sarah Palin lifted Jay Leno’s ratings versus a typical Friday, it was still not enough to lead it past ABC’s 20/20.
Ahead of the move to Wednesdays at 10pm, Ugly Betty rose again with adults 18-49, from last week’s 1.2 to a 1.4 rating and 4.8 million viewers overall, it’s best on Friday since the season premiere.
Dollhouse was up a bit over last week, particularly in the 8pm hour where it pulled a 1.0 rating with adults 18-49 (versus last week’s .8 rating for the 8pm episode). But how you gonna lie to me and be all up in my face about a treatment, I don’t have time for no nerd convention. Did I fall asleep? Or something like that. Anyway, for the 9pm hour it was back down to a .8 rating with adults 18-49, but for the two hour block it averaged over 2.4 million viewers and a .9 with adults 18-49. Last week for the two hour block it averaged 2.05 million viewers and a .8 with adults 18-49.

Baby Spice Visits a Comic Relief Project in Uganda

As Emma Bunton invites us to visit an amazing Comic Relief project in Kadama, Uganda, we witness first-hand the plight of children living in the shadow of Aids.
As we approach the place we’ve been talking about for hours, the nervous energy in the truck rises palpably.
The kids we’re about to meet at the Comic Relief-sponsored project in Kadama are struggling more than anyone we know – many are infected with HIV, others have been orphaned by the disease and each one will probably eat only once today.
So when we turn off the road and are greeted with 1,000 smiling faces and a chorus of gorgeous, welcoming voices, the shock stuns us into silence.
Whatever we expected, this wasn’t it.
The children help us down from the truck, all the while singing and waving flags they’ve made especially for their guest of honour, Emma Bunton.
And after a heartbreaking welcome, where the children’s huge smiles and excited eyes almost fool us into thinking they’re OK, we start to meet them one at a time.
Brothers George and Jimmy are the first to say hello, along with their grandmother Margaret.
At first glance, the boys look around five and six. Jimmy has stunning eyes, but unlike his older brother it seems impossible to make him smile.
Looking closely at George as he hides a smile behind his hands, we see dark lesions on his skin. Part of his ears are missing. Jimmy is in fact 10 and at 12, tiny George is almost a teenager.
They were both born with HIV and received no treatment for the disease until earlier this year, when the Comic Relief-sponsored project in Kadama, Uganda, got involved.
Emma, a devoted mum to two-year-old son Beau, is visibly shaken. “I cannot believe how old they are,” she says later.
“They’re such beautiful boys and they’ve already had so much tragedy.
“I know how energetic little boys should be, so to see these gorgeous brothers so weak and ill is heartbreaking.”
The sad details of their short lives are even more moving.
“They were babies when their parents died,” explains Margaret.
“I have taken care of them since and when they got sick, they were tested for HIV.
“George’s ears became full of holes, they were almost falling off. They lived most of their lives with no treatment but are getting medication and nutritional support now thanks to the project.
“George and Jimmy can now come to meet other children around once a month at the project and go to school if they are well enough. Often they are too sick. We are afraid they might die, but we try to make things easier. Jimmy is responding well to the new drugs, but it is not working so well for George.”
A few miles from the project, crouched in the dirt outside the hut he shares with his little brothers, 15-year-old Sedulaki talks about life at the head of his household.
Orphaned at 11 after watching both his parents die from HIV, Sedulaki has been forced to grow up fast, shielding his brothers from the bitter prejudice they’ve faced as kids left behind by the disease.
“When our mother died, our uncle wouldn’t let us bury her on the land,” he recalls.
“He said her body would poison the crops. So we had to carry her for miles to bury her somewhere safe.”
With brothers Asman and Joseph at his side, softly spoken Sedulaki tells the family’s story with serious eyes and glances constantly at the others to make sure they’re OK.

“We have no family apart from each other,” he explains.
“We have a little land, a few goats and we look after ourselves.”
Until six months ago Sedulaki and his brothers were isolated, miles from the nearest village and with no support.
Now, thanks to the project, the boys have been given the chance to enrol in their local school.
“Before, we spent all our time here,” explains Sedulaki in slow, but perfect, English.
“Now we go to school and meet other children. But it makes it more difficult to get food because we have to leave for school at 7.30am.”
Like most of the other kids in their 1,500 strong primary school, the boys do not receive any food during the long days they spend there. Either they bring their own from what they manage to scrape together at home, or they go without.
While Sedulaki battles to remain strong in front of his brothers, in a rare moment without them he lets his guard down and reaches out for a way to break away from his life.
“Will you come back for me?” he pleads.
“I’d like to come to England. There is nothing here.”
After struggling to hide her emotions in front of all the children she’s met, it’s Sedulaki’s story that finally becomes too much for Emma, 33.
“He broke my heart,” she says later.
“He’s such a brave boy. He’s managed to cope with all the tragedy in his life, losing both his parents so young and being turned away by his own family. But as brave as he seems, he is only 15. No boy of his age should have so much tragedy, never mind the responsibility of having to look after little ones.”
But Jimmy, George, Sedulaki and his brothers are the lucky ones. As they sit in a cramped, hot classroom with their teacher the following day, dozens of kids stand dressed in rags at the doorstep, dying to join them.
One boy, who looks about nine-years-old, sits next to us and stares up with sad eyes, but tries his best at a smile.
He is wearing just a filthy beige shirt, and his dusty feet are covered in cuts. Through one of the teachers at the school we ask the boy his name.
He tells us he is called Samson, but also thinks that he’s only two. After years standing on the steps outside the classroom little Samson has never made it inside.
As keen as he is to learn, his parents cannot pay for his uniform or his books, and the project doesn’t have enough cash to fund every child. It has other objectives in the area which is scourged by HIV – providing support to adults already living with the disease, teaching them skills in healthcare, agriculture and business to improve their families’ lives, and teaching sex education to as many people as they can reach to curb the spread of the disease.
Red Nose Day this year raised an amazing £82.3million. More than £7.5m of that was raised by schoolchildren across the UK and another £5m, including the money for this project, came from the Department for International Development.
“Becoming a mum to Beau made me so aware of what children need,” says Emma.
“I know how little and vulnerable he is. But here I see babies not much older than him standing outside the school and on the side of the roads. “It is heartbreaking and to see it for yourself is more shocking than I’d imagined. The children here have so little, but they are so sweet and polite.
“They seem to appreciate any little thing, even a smile seems to make them happy.
“What we worry about at home makes me embarrassed now. I see what these gorgeous kids face every day, and they still manage to be so welcoming to us.
“The project does a fantastic job, and Comic Relief has played an amazing part in that. But there are so many kids still on the outside and the project needs more support to bring them in.”
LOVE her.
MTV Pulls Snooki Sucker Punch From Jersey Shore
Jersey Shore has only aired three episodes, but it’s already generating massive amounts of controversy – even in episodes that haven’t even aired yet.
MTV has decided to pull footage of next week’s situation – not The Situation – in which Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi gets punched in the face … by a man.
Network execs ordered the cuts after downloaded copies of Thursday night’s on-air Jersey Shore promo showing the sucker-punch caused a stir online.
Calling it a sucker punch may not even be an accurate term, actually, since the meathead is looking Nicole Polizzi in the face as he frickin’ levels her.
“What happened to Snooki was a crime and obviously extremely disturbing,” MTV said in a statement regarding its decision to pull the punch scene.
Snooki gets punched on next week’s Jersey Shore.
“After hearing from our viewers and seeing how the video footage has been taken out of context not to show the severity of this act or resulting consequences, MTV has decided not to air Snooki being physically punched in the face.”
The fight and its aftermath will be addressed, though, along with an ad sponsored by the loveisrespect and Teen Dating Abuse Helpline organization.
An MTV rep says no further cuts are planned (though the show interestingly stopped using the terms “guido” and “guidette” on this week’s episode).
Dan Ferro, a Queens, N.Y., gym teacher, was the guy who hit Snooki, and was arrested on the spot. He was found guilty of assault, fined, sentenced to anger management counseling and given a six-month suspended jail term if he stays clean.
Here’s the part of next week’s Jersey Shore promo showing Snooki getting closed-fist cocked. It’s rough. The guy may have gotten off too easily …
Sarah Palin and William Shatner Go Rogue, Exchange Readings on Tonight Show
The Tonight Show has had way too much fun chiding Sarah Palin this year, thanks to master thespian William Shatner’s spoken-word, excerpted readings from the former governor’s farewell speech and later Levi Johnston’s Twitter account.
It was high time Sarah got in on the action herself, don’t you think?
On last night’s Tonight Show, Shatner again treated us to signature, dramatic prose (with bongo accompaniment) from Palin’s new memoir, Going Rogue.
But this time, Sarah made a surprise appearance to turn the tables.
“I think Bill did a great job, but I think it’s only appropriate that I read a few choice excerpts from Mr. Shatner’s autobiography, Up Till Now,” she said.
And she did. Watch the dueling, spoken-word comic genius below …
