The band, not Kate Middleton’s mother-in-law. A chipper Adam…

The band, not Kate Middleton’s mother-in-law.

A chipper Adam Lambert was spotted arriving at BBC Radio 2 yesterday afternoon (June 27,2012) in London.

Adam Lambert declared that no one will ever be able to replace Freddie Mercury, as he gets set to perform alongside Brian May and Roger Taylor.

Over the past few weeks the ex-American Idol runner up has been rehearsing with the remaining members of queen, as he prepares to step into Freddie’s shoes.

Lambert told BBC Breakfast: “It’s such a great challenge, I’m so excited. It’s actually surprisingly comfortable, it could have been really intimidating.”

He then added: “They are a class act, very down to earth. We’re having fun making good music. I’m not gonna be Freddie, he is one of a kind, no-one will ever replace him. I’m just singing music he helped create, to bring it to life.”

Adam then went on to say how he is looking forward to bringing their two distinctly different sounds together, stating that: “Fronting Queen means that we’re crashing two worlds together. I love classic rock but right now I’m creating dance-pop with a rock and roll spirit.

“I can sing different stuff, as long as I’m getting the green light from Queen then I’m doing something right.”

He followed this up with a reassurance to fans that he doesn’t “want to stray too far from the original, but I will also make it my own”.

Queen along with Adam Lambert will perform at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London on July 11 and 12.

Woo hoo! Congratulations Adam Lambert! We couldn’t be more proud…

Woo hoo! Congratulations Adam Lambert! We couldn’t be more proud of you.

Adam Lambert’s Trespassing rose above the competition to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 this week. The singer’s second album sold 77,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, putting him 14,000 ahead of Adele‘s 21 for the week and 23,000 ahead of the No. 3 album, Carrie Underwood‘s Blown Away.

Trespassing also topped the Billboard Digital Albums Chart and Canada’s Digital Albums Chart. Adam’s debut, For Your Entertainment, debuted at No. 3 in November 2009, selling 198,000 copies.

Just as importantly, this album made the record books as well. He’s become the first out male artist to have a #1 album. Other gay performers such as Elton John and George Michael made it to the top of the charts, but only prior to coming out.

Hugs to Adam and his amazing fans for making this happen!
