Wild Things Trumps Miley in Grammy Switcheroo

Now, neither Hannah Montana nor Miley Cyrus will be partaking in any wild rumpus at the Grammys.

As if failing to score any individual nominations herself weren’t tough enough, the tween queen-crooned tune “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie has just been yanked from contention.

And that means no Cyrus performing during the Jan. 31 ceremony.

Written by Jessie Alexander and Jon Mabe, “The Climb” had made the cut for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media category when nominations were announced last week.

Trouble is, it wasn’t written specifically for the Hannah Montana film, and? therefore wasn’t technically eligible. Team Cyrus quickly realized the mistake, however, and voluntarily took the tune out of the running.

Ms. Montana’s loss was the Wild Things’ gain. “All is Love,” written by Karen O for the soundtrack to Spike Jonze‘s Where the Wild Things Are had the next highest number of votes and will now be on the Grammy ballot. The news of the nomination was announced on the director’s Wild Things blog and has already been noted on the official Grammy site.

Rounding out the category: Beyonc?‘s “Once in a Lifetime” from the film Cadillac Records, Bruce Springsteen‘s title song from The Wrestler, Oscar winner A.R. Rahman‘s Slumdog Millionaire ditty “Jai Ho,” and Paramore‘s “Decode” from a little flick called Twilight.
