Peaches Given An Honorary Membership To The Harvard Lampoon

peachesNever let it be said that Ivy League undergrads fail to heed their Teaches. The Harvard Lampoon has decided to induct electro-powered pioneer Peaches as an honorary member, adding her to a distinguished roster that includes James Brown, The Strokes and Aerosmith. We’re jealous.

Harvard’s comedy publication/NBC-writer-factory, the Lampoon has long bestowed honorary memberships on influential stars with funny bones. In a nutshell, the staff of the Lampoon want to get with Peaches, lay with Peaches, and so forth. Says the post on her blog:

“The members of the Lampoon staff are huge admirers of her career and will celebrate with her on December 7th at their Annual Canadian Synthpunk/Glam Rock Awards Dinner. The event will kick off with a public karaoke party on the steps of the Castle followed with a private induction ceremony inside the Castle to follow.”

It probably didn’t hurt that Peaches (birth name: Merrill Beth Nisker) just released her highest-charting album I Feel Cream just this year. (It debuted and peaked at #160 on the Billboard 200.) If you live around Cambridge, Mass. (or if you’re on this bus), we imagine you’ll want to hit the induction party next Monday. Who knows, maybe we’ll get lucky and certain Lampoon alumni will take more notice of her—come on, Conan, it’s not like you’ve had the most interesting guests lately.
