Hugh Jackman to star in Dreamworks’ ‘Real Steel’?
Hugh Jackman is in talks with DreamWorks bosses to star in their upcoming robot flick “Real Steel”.
According to sources, the film, based on a short story by Richard Matheson, will have a budget of 80million dollars.
The film helmed by Shawn Levy revolves around a fighter who faces the challenge of reinventing himself when robots replace human boxers.
Jackman will play the role of a struggling Robot Boxing promoter.
Levy calls the movie a “rousing sports movie” with Jackman playing “a former boxer who can no longer do the only job he’’s good at, and one particular robot that may be his return to grace.”
The production of the flick will in June next year.
“When we took it with us, we really highlighted it as something we would put the pedal to metal on,” Variety mag quoted DreamWorks co-president of production Mark Sourian, as saying.
He added: “It’’s a project that Steven always wanted to do. It just came together rapidly after we left Paramount.”
